Jake Coulter, co-founder.

Jake is currently in a political communications role at the Afghanistan and Central Asian Association. He holds a BA in politics and an MA in PPE, specialising in Political Economy. As a descendant of a Palestinian refugee, Jake has always championed the rights of refugees and migrants. He has previously volunteered with L’Auberge des Migrants, organising amenities for refugees in Calais.

Charlie Williams, co-founder.

Charlie holds a BA in International Relations and a MA in International Political Economy. His fascination in culture and people has led him to his experience in the humanitarian sector working at the Afghanistan & Central Asian Association as an Integration Officer and at the Campaign for Human Rights for Afghanistan as head of its publication. Charlie is now a teacher in Beijing.

Georgia Williams, illustrator.

Georgia is currently in her 2nd year of studying Graphic Communications at Loughborough University. Her interest in people and their stories has led to portraiture being a large part of her portfolio. She combines her skills in fine art and graphic design to create illustrations and other creative content that depicts the stories of people.

Mary Rose Corkery, publishing intern.

Mary Rose is in her third year of studying English, Philosophy, and Managing for Social Impact and Public Good at Boston College. Her view of storytelling as an effective craft to enhance social justice has led her to involvement in the realms of women’s empowerment, mental health advocacy, and faith sharing in the modern world. The way in which aspects of identity are developed and re-shaped by place and space, particularly in childhood, drives much of her research.

Rutger Veltman, writer.

Rutger holds a BSc in International Relations, a BA in Modern Middle Eastern Studies and a MA in Middle Eastern Studies. He currently works at LUCIS, an academic research institute that promotes research on the MENA region and Central Asia, whilst also volunteering at the Dutch Council for Refugees. This experience has reinforced his belief in the importance of advocacy to safeguard the rights of people fleeing war and persecution.

Kasia Rybarczyk, writer.

Kasia is in her final year of studying French and International Relations at the University of Aberdeen. She has recently interned at European Movement International in Brussels, and previously wrote for the Campaign for Human Rights for Afghanistan, which reinforced her passion for the MENA region, Central Asia and global affairs at large. Her main areas of focus are international security, the impact of militarization on women, and the protection of human rights.

Carina Thompson, writer.

Carina holds a BA in International Relations and is currently a Research Assistant at King’s College London. She has engaged extensively with issues surrounding migration, working at a grassroots refugee charity as well as authoring a thesis problematising visual representations of refugees in British mass media. She is committed to advocating for better refugee protection and asylum policy, and to challenging commonly held perceptions about migrants worldwide.

Habiba Paracha, writer.

Habiba holds a 1st class BA in International Relations from King’s College London. Currently, she is at LSE studying for an MSc in Human Rights with Politics. Her undergraduate dissertation focused on problematising the representation of Muslim women in British mass media. Her main areas of focus are issues of migration in its overlap for EU institutional policies, as well as looking at its overlap with broader structures of institutional racism.
